Ray J talks “I Hit It First” controversy [Video]

| On 11, Apr 2013

Los Angeles, CARay J talks to Karen Civil about the “I Hit It First” music video and the controversy surrounding the song.

Ray J has been getting a lot of attention, bad and good, for his Kim Kardashian “diss” (depending who you ask) record. Of course, he’s loving every minute of it:

“The video is coming next week. I can’t compare it to an SNL skit, I can’t compare it to a spoof but we are having fun about my life. It’s so light. Of course the video is going to have those elements because we are having fun and people know what the concept about but we are kind of taking a spoof on my life.”

Despite the obvious references to Kim, and her baby daddy Kanye West, Ray J seems focused on keeping the song on a positive tip, strictly about the music. In an interview with Hot 97 yesterday, Ray J responded to the mass response the song created after being released a few days back:

“It’s just a record, yo. You know what I’m saying? They’re putting a hundred on fifty. You know? It’s a song. It’s not about (Kim), it’s about a concept, you know what I’m saying? People going way too deep. They just gotta keep it on the surface. I’m not trying to create no war. It’s all love, it’s just music. I think people digging into it too deep. Like, it’s a song, we just having fun.”

He can be seen denying it to be a diss in the video as well. Ray J also admitted to Civil TV that his celebrity sister Brandy is likely none too pleased about “I Hit It First” but has yet to speak with her:

“I gotta be honest with you, Brandy is a bit upset. I haven’t talked to her because I know what type of lecture I’m going to get. Brandy is a whole different type of person. She lives in a different kind of world. I’m way more turnt up, my lifestyle is way more on the edge. For her, a lot of things I do, she might not understand but I can say she has my back. Of course, it’s a record that has a lot of controversy to it. We can’t deny that. From an independent marketing strategy, we felt it was the perfect way to impact and set up all the different projects we have coming out.”
